What is the difference between air duct cleaning and air system cleaning?

Beware of the ads you see touting whole house duct cleaning for $49 or some other "too good to be true" price. This is a classic bait and switch tactic. Even if a company does clean your air ducts for an ultra low price, they have done you a disservice. Why? Full service air system cleaning not only includes cleaning out your air ducts, but must also include cleaning your furnaceair handler. This is the heart of the air system and must be cleaned as well.

Cleaning your air ducts WITHOUT cleaning your furnaceair handler is the same as changing the oil in your car without replacing the oil filter. If your furnaceair handler is dirty, your freshly "cleaned" air ducts will instantly become dirty as soon as you turn on your furnace or air conditioner.

Why Should I Clean My Dryer Vents?

Lint build-up in your dryer vents can cause reduced airflow, which in turn causes overheating. When this happens the high temperature limit safety switch cycles on and off. Most switches weren't designed to cycle on and off continuously which can cause them to fail.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission shows that there are an estimated annual 15,500 fires, 10 deaths, and 310 injuries associated with clothes dryers.

Accumulation of lint and reduced exhaust airflow provide conditions ripe for a fire. Lint is highly combustible and one of the main ingredients in a recipe for home-made fire starters.
